How often should windows be cleaned?

There are no hard and fast rules for cleaning windows but the surface of glass that is left without being cleaned for many months or years can deteriorate. Especially in areas where certain rain deposits, or dust contain corrosive chemicals that can "pit" the surface of glass. Extremes of temperatures also can degrade glass. In domestic or commercial situations it is normally recommended to have glass clean every month or bimonthly. Internal windows may need doing less often or on every other visit from the window cleaner. Cleaning at least every 3 months will preserve a reasonable standard in rural areas.

What water do window cleaners use?

Deinonised water is the pure water technology that window cleaners use. This is traditional water that has sometimes been passed through a water softener first to remove hard lime deposits. Water is then passed through a series of beaded filters to remove all minerals and impurities. The residual water then is very pure sometimes as little as 5 to 10 parts per million of impurity. Such is the composition of water, in its purest state that it is very active and looking to "get dirty" or impure again as quickly as possible. This makes it very useful to window cleaners, as the dirt is effectively sucked or absorbed from the glass into the pure water and glazed surfaces left clean and polished after the cleaning process.

Do window cleaners work in the rain?

Yes it is possible to clean windows in the rain although some people will not appreciate this. All glazing can be cleaned using deionised water from a water fed pole system. This will remove dust and general grime deposits from weather and the environment, even bird droppings can be removed this way. After the cleaning process the glass will dry to a clean, dry and smear free finish.......even after the rain!
